diferences between tranny's
diferences between tranny's
i'm in great need of a tranny right now. i was wondering if someone could give me the facts on them. i have a 95 z28 and was wondering if a 98-02 style would work? also if its a corvette tranny would that matter?
if anyone has a t-56 i need one asap. or should i just rebuild mine? i really think it'd be worth it to get a new one with a warranty. let me know your guy's thoughts and ideas.
thanks!

Re: diferences between tranny's
The C5 and C6 T56's will not work at all. They are rear mount in the Corvette, integrated with the differential.
The LS1 T56 isn't going to work as a simple replacement in an LT1 either. The input shaft is longer, and the slave cylinder is mounted on the front cover of the tranny, rather than in the bell housing, and there is no clutch fork, since the LS1 uses a conventional "pusher" type clutch, activated directly by the slave cylinder, rather than the pull-back design used on the LT1.

Re: diferences between tranny's
a new one will be quite expensive, they're somewhere around 2k for the factory if i remember correctly. I'd spend the money and do a performance rebuild on it, some places will even give you a warranty on a rebuilt trans.
