Not a clue, just weighing some options here... 4l60e's aren't exactly easy to come by and can't afford 600-700+ for a rebuild. Car is setup and includes parts for a th400, but prefer od.

OK...You started this post by stating that you weren't concerned about the negative part about putting a 4L80E in an F-body. It will cost nearly as much to buy the parts to install one, as it would be to have the '60E built correctly. Remember, you need a new converter, custom crossmember, custrom driveshaft, etc. How are you going to wire this thing? What computer are you going to use to operate the 4L80E? This is not any way to save money.
The 4L80E is a big, heavy, HP robbing unit, that will usually slow an F-Body down atleast 2/10 in the quarter mile. Eventhough I always try to talk our customers out of an '80E, many don't listen, until they've spent ALOT of money to do the swap...and then end up spending more money to swap back to a 4L60E.
If you're trying to save money, do yourself a favor...get the '60E rebuilt.

Re: Diesel 4l80e bolt up to a lt1?

Well just weighing options and your right about the 80... after some research I'd need to spend alot. I have a th400 driveshaft from spohn and an ati converter for a th400 and the right cm. So on top of the rebuild costs for a 60e, Id have to get a converter, ds, crosssmember, etc... I tried with no luck to sell the th400 stuff so looks like th400 for me. It wont be a daily driver and I work at home, so the od isnt that big of a concern. I have a 4l60e now, but 3rd/4th are out. I did plan to go back to it, but as mentioned the other parts didnt sell after 3 weeks of trying. Oh and tracks only 5 miles away
