did any 93-97 z28's come with hurst shifter?
i was in my car today and noticed my shifter said hurst on the side , ive only had the car about a month and i was wondering if the guy before me installed a hurst shifter or is it stock?
Re: did any 93-97 z28's come with hurst shifter?
To my knowledge, NO Z28s came with a Hurst shifter. Starting in 96 if you bought an SS you could get the Hurst shifter upgrade for an additional $399. However, the only visible difference between that and a stock shifter was the "H" in the leather ****. If I remember right, the stick/shaft itself is the same or if not the same, it's difficult to tell the difference. They definitely do not say Hurst on them
If yours has "Hurst" written on it, it's aftermarket
Also, these shifters were not IMO worth the money. I rotated between a 95 Trans Am 6 speed (stock) and my 96SS with the factory Hurst and I could not tell the difference even when jumping out of one and into another.

Just like Brent said, there were NO Z28s with a Hurst shifter from the factory. It was only available on the SLP cars as an option.
baxter96720.cz28.com,
your shifter is not stock. The factory option hurst shifter had the exact same stick (metal with black paint) and a hurst leather **** with an "H" on top.
The base is different but there is nothing on it that says HURST.
Here is the factory hurst ****.
And here is a picture of the factory hurst shifter. The base is more solid than a factory unit, but having tried this shifter and a stock shifter, I would definetely say the price of this option was not justified by the value you got. For $160 you can get a brand new PRO 5.0 which is pretty much like night and day compared to Hurst.
Now the aftermarket Hurst is a completely different story.
