crooked rearend
crooked rearend
My dumbass hit a curb last week with the RR tire.
Yesterday I took it in for an alignment. The shop told me that my rear end was crooked. I saw the screen and my RR toe was -.20deg and my LR toe was .20deg. Is this something that I can fix in my garage or do I need to take it to a body shop to fix? The alignment shop had no interest in doing the alignment after they saw that.

"barely clipping a curb" doesnt bent LCA's either, youd bend an axle flange at the force it would take to bend a LCA. and the panhard would be damaged. was the car previously rebuilt or repaired? could be something from previous.
Car was not previously repaired or rebuilt. It's got 144k now and I've owned it for about 90k. I've had about 4 or 5 alignments done since I've owned it. Not one showed the rear toe to be anything but zero. When I hit the curb, it kicked the rear of the car to the left a little. It makes more sense to me that the right side of the axle was knocked back slightly, thus causing the toe to be what it is. I will take another look, but an initial inspection did not show anything bent or damaged.......
you know....the bushings in the factory LCAs are rubber. Is it a possibility that the axle did in fact shift just enough to knock the toe out .20 deg without actually bending anything? If that's the case, I should be able to get away with installing a set of decent LCAs to fix my problem......thoughts?
