cracked forward clutch piston.

Me and my buddy are currently rebuilding my transmission with a master raptor rebuild kit from Performance Automotive and Transmission Center. We discovered that my aluminum forward clutch piston is cracked. Should I upgrade to a beefier piston, such as the billet one PATC sells or would a new stocker be ok. I have read that the later model 4L60's have a steel piston. Can this be used in my transmission? If so, do I need to switch anything else over to be able to use the newer style piston?

Thanks,

Rob
