Thumbs up CPT Pro Race 4L60E: 2 year check-in

Just wanted to report back on the CPT pro-race tranny with some custom goodies that I've been running on a daily driver for the past two-ish years, and say I'm super satisfied and everything is going great.

My original 4L60E cracked a piston (not a common failure, but not rare either) and was slipping under moderate throttle, so I sent it in to Frank for a rebuild and after describing my plans for the car he sweet talked me in to the pro-race rebuild with a beefier piston set. I'm running the tranny he rebuilt through a Pro-Torque 2800 converter, B&M equivalent stacked plate tranny cooler, and 5 gallons of Royal Purple fluid.

This thing is fantastic. When I first installed it, by the time I had gotten to the end of the street the tranny had ripped all my worn out mounts to shreds and was banging around like a loose cannonball, but I replaced all that with poly mounts and it's been great ever since. This thing shifts hard, 1-2 will slam your head into the seat and 2-3 never fails to chirp tires under moderate throttle. To be honest I was alittle worried about how this would handle in the snow (no I don't plan to drive it in snow, but it happens and you have to deal with it), I was concerned that I'd be breaking the rear loose all the time with every shift, but after this very snowy winter it's not a big deal. Oh it still handles like crap, but it's not any worse than it was before.

From the cold 10*F winters to the 120*F summers, it has been a flawless joy to drive. Glad I put the tranny cooler on there and premium fluid, I'm more worried about oil pressure in the summer stop-and-go traffic than I am of my transmission.

Anyway, I've seen Frank take a bit of heat lately, and just wanted to post up as a satisfied customer to show some support. Frank's a regular guy just like us. I remember calling him up to check in during my rebuilt, and we'd get to chatting about all sorts of stuff from cars to girlfriends, shop problems, to who knows what. My point is, Frank is a regular car guy just like us, he's not a robot cranking these out, so personal stuff gets in the way sometimes. I think a lot of the anger towards Frank stems from this, that he doesn't make it crystal clear from the start that's he's not an assembly line churning these things out, and he might bite off a bit more than he can chew sometimes. When I sent mine in, I remembered the golden automotive rule: you can have something done fast, cheap, and right; pick any two. Frank does it cheap and certainly right, so you've got to except that it won't always happen fast. Add third party shipping on top of that, which is never fun to deal with, and it can seem like everything grinds to a halt.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for building me an awesome tranny Frank, hope all your personal stuff I've been following turns out OK. You've always claimed to build a quality product, and so far that's all I've seen from finished results.
