converter doesnt lock

I just had my tranny rebuilt and put a tci 3000 stall in at the same time. the problem is that the converter doesnt lock. i never really payed attention to it before the rebuild so i dont know if the stock one locked before. this is my first car that actually has a lockup converter so i didnt think about it before, im used to th350s. anyways, i looked at the sensor on the brake pedal, right above the brake light one, its pushed in all the way while the pedal is up and comes out with the pedal as it goes down. it never leaves the pedal basically. if that is correct, what other things could i check? i dont want to heat the crap out of my new tranny so id like to get this fixed asap thanks alot -dave

Chris,
I understand you are in the business to make money, but message boards like thins are designed to help other that may have similar problems as well as the person that posts a question...

If you have information about this problem please type out a few things to check or worry about and maybe that might help others as well, I have read a few other of you posts where you go into detail so I know that you can do that! Please remeber others and not just your pocket, you might get a little more respect on here and in life that way!!

chy20k1 - Do you know if fo any reason the tune has been messed with? Like maybe if you bought it used or anything like that! and more importantly is the converter you put in a lock-up converter? TCI makes both lock-up and non lock-up converters for our cars...

Re: converter doesnt lock

yeah its definately a lock up converter, after playing with it for a while i realized that the converter DOES lock up, but only when the tranny is cold. i didnt notice this before because i mainly put around on side roads going 30mph. when i put the tranny in, my builder told me NOT to run it through the radiator, straight to and from the cooler i bought. the switch on the brake pedal does seem to work because i can unlock the converter by tapping the brake. would this be a problem with the converter itself? any help would be appreciated, thanks -dave

the tune was not messed with, i bought it new from madz28 a while back when i did my headers, would i need a new tune for my converter now? i have a 93 btw
