Clutch Recomendations
Clutch Recomendations
Hello
I am doing a six speed swap in my car. The car is a 94z with a S-trim and forged bottom end. I think the car is around 400 rearwheel. I need to get a clutch to put in the car. I do have the stock flywheel and pressure plate. Can I just get a disk and run the stock components or is that asking for trouble? What recomendations do you have for clutch choices. I have been doing some research and get mixed reviews about the spec clutches. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ben

Re: Clutch Recomendations
I did the A4 to 6 speed swap last December. At the time I was in the same situation as you can see from my sign. I decided to go with the Mcleod street twin and I have had no problems. You will also appreciate the adjustable master cylinder during install. The only problem is I need a new rear end soon. Good luck with the swap.
Re: Clutch Recomendations
Yeah I would love to do a street twin. The only problem is that they are $1100 dollars. I know it would end most of the clutch issues but is it really needed. That is alot for a clutch.
Re: Clutch Recomendations
I have a Centerforce II Dual Friction clutch and it works great. I still need to dyno my car but it should be easily around 400HP. It has never slipped and seems to hook my tires up better cause I have so much more power then I did before, yet the wheels have less spin once I start to move on the same kind of tires. I've seen those twin clutches and man they are something else... Lil pricey but SAWEEEETTTTT
Re: Clutch Recomendations
If money isn't an issue I would recommend the Mcleod Street Twin. That is,in my opinion, the best clutch for your application. You can get a Spec , Centerforce or Ram for about half the price, but those do not include a flywheel.
Re: Clutch Recomendations
I recently did a A4-M6 swap also and was trying to decide on clutches. I ended up getting the street twin (from victory racing
)becasue it came with a new flywheel and I didn't have to worry about clutch giving me problems. I figured a good spec clutch would cost around $500 and that was without a flywheel, but I wanted a new flywheel. I would give the street twin another look, you won't be dissapointed.

Re: Clutch Recomendations
The street twin is my first choice. But it does also come down to a money issue as well. I have the stock flywheel and pressure plate so a friction disk would be around 200 were a street twin is 1100. I am just looking for different options as well.
Re: Clutch Recomendations
You have a good chance of being disappointed if you plan to use sticky tires and settle for anything less than the ST. If you are going to run street tires, the other choices make sense if money is the issue.
