Clutch? maybe?

So i got my 98 z28 6-speed yesterday and it runs great, well anyways i went to go do a burnout in my freinds driveway so i start and then the tires spun once and stop and smoke started coming from under the car and in the engine compartment and the clutch pedal went completely free moving, and it also smelled like durning clutch almost, but i shut the car off the clutch went back to normal, drove it around a little the clutch was holding fine, and did a couple more burnouts to see if it did it again( i was scared as hell to do anymore) the burnouts went fine, the clutch smell was still lingering last night but this morning there was nothing after i drove it around for a little. does anyone know what could have happened?

Re: Clutch? maybe?

yep...you smoked teh clutch...

probably just glazed it. do some normal driving and it should return to normal. you must have just caught it just right and it started slipping and never caught.

it's probably a sign your clutch is goin out...but you very easily could have another 10k miles iin it.

Re: Clutch? maybe?

yeah you probably might of just took a lot of life out of your clutch!
i know it sucks because ive done it too you think your smoking the tires when really its your clutch, its priceless to see someone do it .but when i did do it i wanna say it held up for about2 months after that a couple passes and it was wasted this was with centerforce too.

If you smoked it bad and it still holds after it cooled down then it was your Hydraulics.
Once in a while the stock system doesn't react fast enough and the result is what happened to you. Do the drill mod or upgrade your system.

Re: Clutch? maybe?

So your saying it was the clutch slave cylinder? that would explain why the pedal went completely free, what is this "drill mod" that your talking about
