Clutch master cylinder problem

I was on my way home, pressed in the clutch to shift and was unable to something broke i couldnt even get the car outta gear. when i looked down at the master cylinder i noticed the push rod was bent by me trying to push in
the clutch. so i figure ok its shot, i bought a new master cylinder only, went through all the work replacing it. I new i was gonna have to bleed it so i took the cap off the reservoir started pumping the clutch which was very loose
at the time, all of a sudden it wouldnt go down at all. even with a little force
i couldnt push the clutch pedal down and i didnt wanna force it to only end up bending the push rod. Any thoughts on what could be going on.

Sounds like the slave may be jammed, and unable to move. That would explain why the master won't go down when you press the pedal. I'd check the slave cylinder.

If it moves freely, it won't damage anything. If it resists movement, you run the risk of damaging the rod with excessive force.

Did you "bench bleed" the master before installing it?

Also check the clutch fork to make sure it isn't jammed against something.

no i didnt bench bleed the cylinder i just replaced it, then filled the master cylinder reservoir and started pumping the pedal. is it possible to change the
master clinder without removing steering column, brake booster, y pipe, SLP shortie header like i had to do?
