Clutch help
I searched the entire drivetrain forum about which clutch to buy, but I got limited info. I know to stay away from RAM and stock replacement clutches, but I need a new one to hold all the new power I'm making. My stock clutch only started slipping AFTER heads/cam/rockers/longtubes,etc. I read that the spec stage IV is really good (I think it was Brent that said so) but I haven't really heard anything else about other clutches other than the street twin being OK. I really want a clutch that is fairly easy on the pedal and will hold 420+rwhp. I DON'T want to EVER have to replace the new clutch. Any good suggestions?
Please back up your opinion with some personal experience or street testing.
P.S. I'm paying a shop $275 to install the clutch, so I'm doing it myself

You are going to get mixed opinions on every clutch. Some like centerforce, others hate centerforce. Some like SPEC 111, some hate it. Myself had a centerforce dual friction clutch for about 3 years that held up pretty good. Seen a lot of track life, while running MT Drag slicks. Also, while having 4:10 gears and a 175 shot of nitrous spraying off the line. Just has started slipping, so time for a new one myself. Having said all that Im going to buy the SPEC 111 and see what happends with it. Which ever clutch you buy seems to be pretty much a crap shoot. Some last, some dont.
Ok, I'll try to ask the question a little differently then. Will a spec stage IV clutch be overkill for my application, or will it more than likely be the best suited.
I'm looking for a clutch that will hold 420+rwhp and be driven 99.8% on the street and .2% on the track.

Just installed my stage II, can definately tell its a performance clutch. I cant even imagine going to stage III on a street car. I could see serious driveability issues. Whatever you do, UPGRADE YOUR SLAVE/MASTER CYLINDERS!

yes, but will a stage II hold 420 rwhp? And why would I upgrade my slave/master cylinder? Where do you buy the upgrades?
I just put a Spec IV in my daily driver which is going to be around 400 RWHP after my new heads/cam and maybe NOS later.
I will let you know how it drives later today.
And from everything i hear, the stage 4 drives just like the stage 3, and the stage 3 drives just like the stage 2 lol.
