Re: Which clutch

z06 clutch is a great, cheap, reliable upgrade, and good for ~450rwtq

I use one.

Yes, as the RPM's ramp you can feel the pedal start to pull down. It's strange.

Sounds like you need to do the drill mod.

I agree. If you're not going to do much more than a cam and bolt-ons, you should be able to get by with a Z06 clutch. I had the Centerforce Dual Friction on my 99 SS and ditched it for the Z06 clutch because the pressure plate was so freaking stiff...it was killing my hydraulics. The slave cylinder looked like it had 200K miles on it after about 50K. Also, it would chatter like a SOB when it heated up if you were driving in traffic. It was much better once the Z06 clutch went in.

If you want something more agressive, SPEC and McLeod are generally good names to go with. Just make sure you get supporting parts to accomodate them. Just my $.02

BTW - there is a drivetrain forum on this board where you might get some good responses for this type of question.

The Z06 clutchj is not cheap . You can go to an e-bay dealer and get a spec stage 3 for the price of the z06 kit .
Your local GM dealer wants 540$

If you have a 98-00 with a old school flywheel , just get a spec or something . You get more clutch for the same price . I just bought a Z06 clutch and sold it right after . I was gonna replace my centerforce with it , but , the disk does not seem as wel built as the aftermarket ones . The plates hand losely from the Z06 clutch or any stock Clutch I have seen for that matter.
One differene in the build quality is how thye plate are riveted onto the disk plate . When you have alot of power and smack thrue the gears ...the lose plates can be ripped off

The Z06 clutch is plenty of clutch fro a daily driver car .
