changing transmission fluid t-56

my question is is dexron 3 mercon ATF the right stuff? and also, how much does the t-56 hold?

Yes, that is the right stuff.

For some reason, I seem to remember 6 qts.

4.5. just did it last night. 4.5 is when it overflowed.

U might want to go with the mobil 1 synthetic ATF...it is a little better if you can still find it, they used to carry it a autozone, but havent looked lately as I only put about 400 miles a year on my car, so its been a while since I last changed it

I have had the Mobil1 stuff in my T56 for the last 20k miles (six years) and it works fine!

for a good inexpensive trans fluid the best one i found by far is the coastal at autozone

tranny fluid affects the shifting in the T56??

Is changing tranny fluid any harder than changing oil? I have never done it so I am wondering.

I am runnin M1 syn no prob a friend with a 99 SS said he is running honda atf and was told to do so by some other people at the track and he says it shifts like butter but wont let me drive so i dont know... it is atf so it shouldnt harm anything.
