Changing Rearend.. and Removing Rearend Need tips Fast!
Well I brought my 1994 formula in today to get all finished so it can be driven and the previous owner ****ed me on something else he said "new posi w/ new 3.42 gears" the car doesnt evne have posi (but has the right rotors/brakes) and has stripped gears basically..
anyways I already have a 96 firebird (V6) Car that has a aftermarket rearend with posi and 3.73 gears.. thing is it doesnt have a motor/tranny/driveshaft and is a good 20-30 miles away from the shop so me and my father are going to have to unbolt it how do we go about taking out a rearend?? thanks
hopefully this rearend I have works the guy i got it from this week said its a 8-9 bolt or something along the lines and my mechanic says it should

If it's from a 4th gen f-body it will work. If it has drum brakes you will have to swap brakes over, but other then that it's a 100% direct fit. To remove the rear raise the car from the body, support the rear end with a jack while it hangs or keep the wheels on. Remove the torque arm and driveshaft, unbolt the shocks from the rear end, remove the springs, disconnect and remove the brake lines, e-brake lines and any ABS or TCS wires there may be, unbolt the LCAs. Now your ready to just roll the rear end away.
