Changing from 3.73s to 4.11s in an A4. Worth it?
Changing from 3.73s to 4.11s in an A4. Worth it?
Currently I'm going through the traps at around 5800 rpms with the 3.73s. I really don't want to compromise the driveability of the car too much but am willing to sacrifice a little if I could pick up a couple tenths from the gear change. Would it be worth it? Has any of you done this and if so, what have you picked up.

It's a heads/cam setup. Nothing elaborate, just an emmissions legal package. The heads are 5 year old ARE factory ported units. The cam a gm846. The stall is a 3200.

If you're already flying through the traps at 5800rpm, then with the 4.11s, you be zinging the motor out to about 6400rpm. If you're ok with doing that, then go for it, but realistically, i don't think you'll see much improvement... maybe a .1? Maybe that's all you're looking for?

Apparently my factory tach might be a bit off, I'm actually going through the traps at 5500. I think the 4.11s should put me right in my powerband and into converter lockup a whole lot quicker. If I could pick up .2, it would definitely be worth the swap.
