Change of heart, the TH 400 is coming!! need advice/help

Hey guys, I had a change of heart, me and my dad were talking and decided to instead of throw the new clutch in, to go ahead and swap for a TH 400. What do you guys think?
Id like the durability of a TH 400 but I'd also like OD... should i go with a beefed up 4l60e, i know alot hate them, but I do daily drive this car some and dont want to spend the extra 2 grand on OD for the 400. Or should I just go with the 400 and sacrifice some highway driving?

Also I know some have the 400 in their car so can someone tell me everything ill need and my final cost when all is said and done. Id really appreciate it!

Also If anyone is in the market for a Spec Stage 3 clutch, let me know, mine is for sale, brand spankin new in the plastic!

You need to post this in the "Drivetrain" forum. I can help you out if you post it where it belongs

e.g. you can install the TH400 with a little work to your T56 cross-member.... it doesn't cost $400.

A major factor in determining how tolerable the car will be w/o OD is the rear gear you are running. I am running a 3.42 and it is borderline. Eventually, I will spring for a GV OD. If it were a shorter gear I would say it would NOT be tolerable in any kind of highway driving.

3rd Gen does not equal 4th Gen

Most people that need a TH400 have already moved their TA mount to the chassis.... e.g. Spohn, BMR, Madman, etc.

TH400/Gear Vendor and T56 modified cross-member

I'm with Rich... with 4.10's on street tires, I was pulling almost 4,000rpm at 70MPH cruise. The Gear Vendor dropped that closer to 3,000RPM.... better, but still not "street" friendly.

There is a thread on the "Advanced Tech" forum detailing, with pictures the install of a 4L80E.... O/D, fully electronic, and able to handle loads of torque.

Tranny (preferred source is Rossler Transmissions at www.rosslertrans.com)
Tranny pan
Inspection cover (if desired)
Converter
Flexplate
Modified K-member
Chassis-mount torque arm
Shifter
Dipstick
VSS reluctor and sensor
Tranny Cooler
2-pedal assy (if desired)
Driveshaft
Tranny shield or blanket (if desired)
Computer reprogramming (to get speedo to work properly)
Tranny fluid

I probably left something out.
