Carbon Fiber D/S

Anyone running a carbon fiber D/S. How do you like it? Also, is it necessary to run a driveshaft safety loop when using one?

Thanks in advance.

I have one. I like it pretty well. I got it for free from a friend. After installing it I noticed all my vibrations was gone. If I was in the marjet for buying a drive shaft I would not spend over three hundred dollar. There is a company that makes real good shafts for around that price. I think the name was Denny's. Maybe not. It was suppost to be bulletproof. I would not spend the 700-800 dollars that my shaft cost new. Not worth it.

carbon fiber is nice, but unnecessary for most causes. it is very expensive and people make very good aluminum driveshafts now that will take a ton of power. save your money and go with an aftermarket aluminum.

If you have a hi-po setup with sticky tires, get a good steel DS. Dennys or Dynotech are my two favorite sources. Spohn also has a good rep.

Re: Carbon Fiber D/S

I had a heavy duty (3.8") ACPT CF driveshaft. The front yoke ripped out of the CF tube when the car was being drive from the engine shop to the body shop with a "just enough to get it running tune". I had a 3 month battle with ACPT, trying to get my money back. They claimed it was too long and had bottmed out. I was able to prove, with the help of T.Byrne Motorsports where I bought it, that it was exactly the correct length. Only after going head-to-head with the ACPT chief engineer for a couple weeks did he begrudgingly admit it was a manufacturing defect. They gave me the cost back, but would not cover shipping, or the labor to swap it out.

Since then, I've run nothing but Mark Williaims 3" chrome moly driveshafts. You might want to look at the HD DS's sold my Spohn Performance. There are some driveshaft dyno tests on ws6.com showing very little in the way of gains. To me the risk isn't worth it.

Yes, you can run a DS loop, but its a tight fit with a 4" Mufflex......

Yes, but the 3" chrome moly shaft looks just as mean..... and no more complications from the 4" Mufflex.

How is the chrome moly strength wise? Is it going to be able to hold up to 700RWHP cars?
