car lunging forward
hey guys i just got my car back together after installing a new clutch, and when i go to shift it into first the cars lunges forward a bit,and its also not a smooth engage either.
i know i have to take it all apart again but what am i looking for?
i thought i had the alignment tool in right...
is it possible i mixed up the two different plugs on the tail of the tranny? as im not positive which went where...
thanks guys

Are you saying the clutch is engaging, even though you have the clutch pedal on the floor? Could be an error in installing the throwout bearing, clutch fork or slave cylinder. Could be a leak in the slave cylinder.

ya thats what i was saying lol when i engage first pedal on the floor and moving shifter into first, the car moves ahead
ok now im thinking slave since it was off the tranny for 18months under no load
are there any pics of how the fork should look? maybe i dont have that snapped in right?
thanks for your help!!
i took the slave off, is there any way to tell if it bad? just by insepcting or testing it?

The only picture I have of the front of a T56 has the fork in the "pulled out" position. If it "snapped" into position when you pushed it into the T/O bearing, it should be on the T-bolt correctly. The question would be, did you get the two fingers on the fork in the correct position on the T/O bearing.
Was the slave cylinder disconnected from the hose, or was is left in a complete assembly? When it was sitting for 18 months, was it laying on its side, or hanging down at the bottom of the assembly? I'll assume you checked the level of the fluid in the master.
This is where the connectors go on the side of the tranny.
Reverse lockout connector has brown and light green wires.
VSS connector has yellow and purple wires
Skip Shift connector has brown and gray wires
Having a couple plugs crossed shouldn't affect the clutch release.

ok so i took the slave back off, made sure the fork is on the T/O properly and it was. i noticed the plastic harness that holds the plunger in place was boken and more than likely for a while. put it all back together and pumped the clutch near 1000 times with the car off and with it running. it still lunges a bit still, but not near as much as b4.
am i wrong in saying that with the slave plunger harness broken it over extends and is now screwed, since it hung down for 18 months.
im gonna look up a part number for it and order a new one see if that helps.
thanks for your advice
