cant get the car to shift please help
I just got my car done and I have been having a hard time shifting the car It will go in every gear fine and I can roll off in any gear 1st through
6th. but as soon as I go to get on the gas hard and go through the gears it will only go from 1st to 4th and then to 6th. then when I want to down shift from 6th I can only go to 1st but once i stop and leave from first gear and ease into it all works fine I think it has something to do with my skip shift or what ever selenoid that is the wire got broke when putting the new motor in and was wondering if i could just deable the sencor or get rid of the selenoid or is there something else wrong with the car I need to get the car fix asap thanks

what year is your z28? if its a 94 or 95 yes you can just remove the sensor from the transmission without a problem. if its a 96 or 97 it will throw an SES code and the light will be lit on your dash, but not causing any harm. that's GM's skip shift to 'help with gas economy' you can either just remove the plug or get it tuned out

To clarify... skip shift is not a sensor.... its the solenoid, as indicated in the orginal post. All you do to eliminate it is to remove the harness connector from the solenoid. In the 96/97 cars, you put a 2,000ohm resistor across the connectory terminals to prevent an SES light.
A "skip shift" problem would explain why you could only shift from 1st to 4th under light throttle, but not when you "get on the gas hard". The skip shift system does not engage at anything above above 35% throttle.
Is it possible you have switched the wires for the reverse lockout solenoid (right below the shifter) and the skip shift solenoid (forward, closer to the fill hole)?
