can't get 4l60 out of 98 ls1

I removed EIGHT bolts from the back of the transmission, 3 bolts from the converter, starter, all of the brackets....It does not want to move....I can't seem to get any leverage on it and I don't want to hurt the case, what am I missing here? Any suggestions on how to get it to budge? Maybe a longer crow bar so I can get more torque is all I am coming up with. HELP!

It is most likely stuck on the dowel pins . Move the trans up and down a bit might get to separate or pry between the converter and flex plate. You can spray so WD-40 to help it out. They should be between the lower two bolts on each side.

I just did it

I just installed my new flexplate and YANK ss3600 stall. Sounds like its just stuck on the pins. I used a small jack and put a board under the pan and jacked it up alil.. I then pulled back on it. You might want to go down with it alittle to relieve some stress on it, try to make it at the same angle the engines at and then pull back. If the engines straight and the tranny is pulling it down, you might be working against it.

there should be a tab between the tranny and the block where you can get a pry bar in there at least i know there is on the m6s

You're absolutely sure you got the bolt at the 12 o'clock position? This bolt isn't there on older Chevrolets. I only ask because there's only 6 bell bolts, counting that one.

I read about how many bolts you have to take out and the special one dead center at the top-what a byatch that was to get out with 5 long extensions and a u joint lol....I can't see any bolts left, I pulled 8 total, 2 on the bottom, 4 from the middle and, 2 from the top including that one at the 12 position...I think it may just be stuck, also I see a pry hole, but it is smaller than a large flathead, so it isn't much help.

did you

Did you take off the tranny brace and allow the weight of the tranny to kinda pull the engine down alil so you can see all the bolts? In that position you can see Everything.

I used a small jack with a piece of wood on the crank pully to tilt
the motor , be careful not to over stress the engine mountings, oviously the propshaft & tranny brace are removed.

This creates more space to loosen the bellhousing bolts & it creates an easier angle to remove the tranny.

Good luck

Funny thing, I did the same thing, that helped get the top bolts out tremendously....I also removed all of the brackets, braces, torque arm etc from the back, it is naked. It must be just stuck on there I know for a fact it has never been out at 135k miles and 10 years.
