Can 4l60e tailshaft bushing be replaced by itself?

I have a bad tailshaft bushing causing tailshaft to move enouph to cause a vibration. Can it be replaced without a rebuild and in car? What are the steps? Transmission isn't that old ,shifts fine. So don't want to get it rebuilt if I don't have to.

Yes. You will need a new seal also. First, remove the speedometer from the tailhousing, along with disconnecting the torque arm. Next, remove the 4 15 MM bolts that hold the housing to the case. Once it's off, take out the old seal and you will be able to get at the bushing. Find the correct size bushing driver and knock the old bushing out and the new one in. 4L60E tail housing bushings aren't "clocked" and particular way, and there is no top or bottom. Pretty straight forward.

Ujoints are good. Trying a known good driveshaft this weekend. Pulled tailshaft. Outputshaft has a bit of up down play. Bushing is cracked and warn. Trying a new bushing with the new driveshaft this weekend. I also tried driveshaft in bushing w tailshaft off. A decent amout of play but is to be expected with the driveshaft nit in the output shaft. And I have a solid mount but vibrations are enouph to rattle your teeth and shake the car vilently at transmission.

The ouput shaft will have quite a bit of up and down play. That solid mount is most likely where alot of the vibration is coming from...

20th lt1. All i have had are solid mounts in all.of.them . This started a few moths ago. 2 years of driving and vibes were minimal. This is a vibe/ grind type of sound. At any speed. Over 70 and feels like car is going to fall apart. Tires wheels ect all diffrent and balanced. I can see the driveshaft wabble on jack stands and in gear. When I push output shaft side side it almost sounds like grinding. I do thank you for helping. Like.I said every f body I have had has had solid mounts. This is something.diffrent.
