Cool camaro rear-ends-how different-6cyl-8cyl-?

I have 95 Z-28, 350 auto.. Car available for parts had 6 cyl. with manual trans. Will the rear-end work in my car. Both cars are 95`s. They look alike except for motor and tranny..thanks

it will work but the early v6 cars have drum brakes, your z28 has disc
and gear ratio may be different

Can the punkins come out of the rear-end.I mean, dont know much about newer cars but I use to carry an extra rear-end around in my `63 Chevy Impala. Had a four spd and tearing out rear-ends was common..Just pop out the bolts, pull the punkin out and put in a new, or used, one., replace driveshaft and go.

GM rear-ends (10 and 12 bolt from the late 1960s to present) "do not" have pumpkins that come out as one assembly. It is the Ford 9” rear-ends that have a removable pumpkin.

V6's did not come with a posi rear as standard, only as an option. Disc brakes were also optional with the V6's.

My "purchased new" 1963 Impala 300/327 3-speed left the factory with a 3.36:1 removable rear axle "pumpkin".... quickly replaced with a close ratio T10 and a 4.11 pumpkin. When the 4.11 rear disintegrated, the stock 3.36 was a simple replacement. Those were the "good old days"

Mine....

if the posi/limited slip and the disks were options does that mean, if it has those 2 options, that it is the Y87 package? i found a 4th gen rear out of a V6 96 camaro that has disks and limited slip.

Both posi and disc brakes were included in the Y87 package (along with a quicker steering ratio). The Camaro White Book does not list those options as being available seperately in 1996.

What are you going to put the 96 rear axle in?
