Built 4l60e or TH350
Car is a 94 Z28 that will see some street time and a lot of track time. Which would you guys prefer to run?
I like the OD on the 4l60e and I like the first gear in the 4l60e vs a TH350....but a th350 is a lot cheaper to build.

Remember a 4L60E has a better first gear ratio (3.08), and retains O/D. Our 4L60E can handle as much power as any TH350 out there.
Other than the intial cost, there's NO reason to swap to a TH350.
The kit to make a 350 work in a 4th gen, plus the cost of a good rebuild is only a few $ less than a properly built 4L60E.
With a Th350, your 60ft. times will suffer, and the money you saved will be eaten up at the gas pump because of the lack of O/D..

I agree with Frank, the 4L60E can take similar HP numbers & live. What torque converter are you planning on using with the Procharger? How much added HP with the Procharger? What rear end gear ratio are you going to use? Any information that you can give will help determine what will work best here?
th350 is lighter, doesnt soak up as much power and is way cheaper to build for any amount of power. If you built one you could change out first gear and get a big stall and still be cheaper than the 4l60e. the only reason i would vote for 4l60e is if it was your daily driver, or if you drive on the highway alot.

lol the rpms would be rediculous..like 4000 rpm @ 55 mph. That wasnt my point though. i stated that unless it was your daily driver the th350 would be better. The th350 has a huge aftermarket (shifters, rebuild kits, auto/manual valve bodies) etc. The 4l60e is heavier and soaks up more power (and more expensive).
Unless it never sees the street, get the 4L60. If it's super hi-po, get a TH400. But I fail to see the benefit of the TH350 over the 4L60 and giving up OD is huge on a street car. How much cheaper is it to biuld a TH350 than a 4L60? Using the same quality parts I can't imagine it's much less expensive?

A 4l60 can be built stronger...ask CPT, most upgrade parts for a 350 come right out of a 4l60/700 type trans I only went with the 350 cause I happened to have one on the shelf and I have a low h.p. car....plus I had a cheeta valve body and converter sitting in my shop and a 6 sp. before. Also if I descide to upgrade later I can swap a PG
another really big issue with a low h.p. car or anything under 5-600h.p. is that first gear, a 2.75 gear set is going to run you $400 for a cheap one 4l60 has a 3.06 and that helps alot to move a big ol boat
