Broke a ring gear - are my gears trash now?
I have a set of 4.10s with a chipped ring gear. Would it be a waste of time to re-install these gears?
They didn't make any noise in the rear that they were in. I am not planning any hard launches with these. They will be just something to putt around the the street on for a while (not a daily driver). My main concern is how likely they are to break again (better chance of breaking again? Same as before?)

Do these gears belong in the trash can now?

Couple more things...
I can do the labor myself. I have an extra posi and gearset on standbye. The car is not a daily driver. In other words, if they failed I'd only be out some time & gear oil.
Maybe that makes a difference...
