Re: Better way to break in clutch?

Its not that putting 500 miles on the car is what is bothering me, the problem is that 500 miles for every clutch I put in the car starts to add up. that comes to 2500 miles of driveing I have dome to break in clutches. I want to get out there and see what the car can do not cruise around town breaking in clutches.

In that case it would be VERY important to break the clutch in properly. If you drive normally and don't abuse the clutch it should last you 100,000 miles. That's how long my stock clutch lasted, and the new one has 30,000 miles on it and only slips when I abuse it hard. It shouldn't take you more than a couple weeks to get 500 miles on the clutch and get it nice and broken in. How much power are you putting down anyways? Mods? Just curious.

Re: Better way to break in clutch?

My mods are- heads ported and matched to weiand aluminum ls6 intake. crane cam, crane 1.8 rockers, 85mm throttle body, Granatelli MAF, Volant induction, hooker shortie headers, Bassani Y pipe, Borla catback with qtp cutout, SLP lightweight flywheel, centerforce clutch, carbon fiber driveshaft, moser 12 bolt rear with 3.73 gears, tuning with LS1 edit, 100 HP shop nitrous and all rear suspension is spohn. I think that is it unless I forgot something. I dont know how much power I have because I have not been to the dyno. I did go to the track once but I had some clutch problems, wouldnt shift above 4000 rpm, and I ran 13.00 at 128 MPH with a 3.0 60 ft. I had regular street tires on it so I had a hard time launching.

Re: Better way to break in clutch?

BTW I have not used the nitrous yet, the time above is all motor. I want to get everything straight before I start spraying.
