I'd get a Spec Stage 4..no springs on disc.

On a mild street car? Thats no fun. Streetability counts, and without the springs, that is even harder on our glass rear-ends.

I had their steel flywheel with my clutch. Havent noticed any difference but the track doesnt open up till april so im not sure. Id be weary with a 100 shot of n20 and a stock rearend. Not totally sure if it could handle it but with that much power opened up instantly id assume its hard on it. I think every performance mod should be accompanied with mods to prevent breaking things. What good is it to put 500-700 in a nitrous system to only use it a few times before replacing a rearend or driveshaft. I was also told the 96 and newer T-56 are weaker. Its not fun driving your car to the track to have it towed home IMO.

I'm speakin from experience here...I've had both stage 3(has springs) and the Stage 4..I guarantee you can't tell the difference between the two if you were to drive them. I drive my car in Dallas traffic so don't tell me it aint streetable. You know the guy wants to go fast in the future so why not do it right the first time?

Re: Best clutch recommendation! Quick

yea, i was going to do it with a safety switch, window switch, and bottle heater

i also dont plan on running it a whole lot but i want a drivetrain to handle it when called upon

i didnt think a 100 shot with the safety stuff could hurt the rear end much though

anyone have any part numbers and what i need for the mcleod clutch?

Not sure about the SPEC clutches, but I used a Dual Friction Centerforce in my 96 SS and it grips like a bitch without fail. Not sure about long term use because it's 5k miles new, but I'm very happy with it. I also used a new billet steel flywheel hoping for more momentum in gear, which I believe I gained in acceleration. Just my opinion.

Re: Best clutch recommendation! Quick

Yea i Got the Mcleod but she is till appart
Turns out some oil got into the clutch so i had to replace the pan gasket (the rear seal looked fine) and i have to go to the dealer or some other shop on monday to get a fork or the fork spring because it is half busted and is only a matter of time before it would have slipped off

Interesting driving the folks 95 suburban for now
same size engine, but different gearing and plus how many thousand pounds
