My racing buddy, Chris Haase, has a Midwest 3500 in his daily driven 99 Vette. Cuts 1.4 60' times and runs 6.5s in the eighth.

I would take a midwest over a TCI any day of the week. I will be ordering a new midwest here real soon.

ProTorque (PTC). I've been building automatic transmissions for 14 years. I worked at a shop for 7 of those years that has it's own converter shop. This gave me the luxury of seeing what goes INSIDE many "race" converters.

As for YANK. I've seen more Yank failures than most others listed. They're overpriced and overrated.

Precision (Vigilante) makes a good convereter, also.

I haven't had the luxury of seeing inside a Midwest, but I haven't heard much bad about them.

As for TCI?...I'll just leave my opinion at...I'd never buy one. I've seen inside too many of them.

Why dont any of you post your mods and then lets see a comparison on the cars cause if your comparing apples to oranges on mods it not fair. as I stated bolt on cars with stock gears and what type of car are we talking about, If your gonna compare alot of different cars I have gone 10.00 at 136 in a 1982 regal with a 400 small block with a tci 3500 stall going 1.41 60ft so as you can read the post the Guy was asking for a comparison , PROS and Cons and you guys are not helping him buy giving advice on a none stock, bolt on car like he is driving , as for you NOSFEDGTA your car is not even close to a 2002 bolt on car so you shouldnt even post what your car runs, this guy has got a few bolt on parts on his car with 323 gears and TCI SSF 3500 would smoke any minwest 3500 stall all day long do a search on the forums LS1 tech before you run your mouth and put down other converters like a bunch of newbies, what size stall are you running and gears , mods and then lets see how your midwest compares.

As I stated in someones other post I never said any bad words against any converter company because we all have had good luck with different brands and thats how we usually choose.

I cut 1.6 60fts in a car thatn ran 11.90's on motor and 1.44 with nitrous. I paid less for a pro billet nitorus converter than others wanted for just an na converter..

Everyone does have their own opinion though, and I can respect that.
I can respect that as well. But the fact is Colonel over at LS1TECH ran a TCI SSF3500 and got a 11.82 with a 1.61 60' time all while internally stock and 3.23 gears. Those are just as impressive numbers IMO. I don't think you could go wrong with either Midwest or TCI. I frequent this board and LS1TECH and they both rock but the guys over there swear by TCI (if you don't want to dish out the cash for a Yank).

Kevin @ TCI does give great customer service. He has givin free restalls and replacements for defective converters within the first year. I PM'd him with a question and had it answered within an hour.

I still adhere to my previous post. I would still go with a TCI over a Midwest any day. But like I said you can't go wrong with either one.

MIDWEST billett 3600 stall with 2.6 stator

runs 11.90's at englishtown in NJ

sprays 125 shot and goes 10's

As for "running MY mouth" I can do that all day long if I want. WHy would I want to do a search on a company that I have never had any luck with?

MIDWEST PRO BILLETT NITORUS CONVERTER 4600 stall "old one was 3800 stall"
ford 9in with 3.70's

car runs 9's and I can drive it to the track If I please.

oh and for comparisons sake, my friend brad has a street car that had a tci unit in it and he switched to a midwest and picked up 4 tenths. SO I will keep buying midwest and selling midwest. He runs here at a local 8th mile car ran 8.80s with the ocassional 8.70's then ran today with the new unit and ran 8.40's all day.

Oh and to clear things up I did state that maybe tci was making a comeback with their new LS1 conveters if you read some of my other posts....

Enough said, we could go back and fouth on this, I guess its just preference and what your budget can afford. Its been good talking and alot of feedback has got out. No Ill feelings on this issue and I wasnt calling you a newbie , I said sounding like newbies .

I still feel that TCI in an LS1 bolt on car with stock gearing would put midwest to shame, I have been doing searches on ls1tech and TCI has better results than midwest and thats a fact.

Personally I think that nothing can beat the yank PT4400 at the track ,I think thats is one of the best racing converter out there, but most of us guys just cant afford them.

So guys its been good talking to you all, And you NOSFED its been fun and no hard feelings on this issue. No insults were intended .

What brand and size would you get?

This summer I'm getting my heads done by Lloyd Elliott and buying a custom cam from Joe Overton along with everything else that goes with it. I need to get a stall but am torn between Yank and Vigilante. My car will see more street driving then strip. I just want one that is going to be reliable for street driving. I was thinking a 3200? What do you guys think?
