bad viberation after replacing tranny mount!
Re: bad viberation after replacing tranny mount!
My situation might be different from all of you but replaced my broke stock trans mount with the ES mount. At first I could feel that it made the car vibrate a little more than the old one but now I dont even notice it at all. I like E.S. I also have the endlinks and poly seems to make the car feel stiffer. just my .02

Re: bad viberation after replacing tranny mount!
well my whole suspension is poly bushings so thinking about it i dont think teh ES trans mount would really make a big diff since the car already feels teh road alot

I was told the 1LE was no longer available.... unless you can find some remaining stock somewhere (that's why I got the LS1 mount). I would not waste my time putting the ES in unless you like your teeth chattering while you're riding. Put it in and try it, since it may not bother you as bad as it did me (and many others from what I have read)....
Re: bad viberation after replacing tranny mount!
My car has had the ES mount on it for almost a week now, and I can't feel any vibrations until the engine hits 4800-4900rpm. But that was there with the old GM rubber mount too. So I am perfectly happy with my ES poly. I wouldn't let the horror stories scare you off completely. If you already have one, you might as well give it a shot.

Will the LS1 mount bolt directly into place on my 96? My brother got one put on his 97 TA from MTI in Houston. They said that they had to mod. the top of it by grinding it down to make it fit. Just wondering if this is actually necessary? I've changed my trans mount about 5 times already, so it only takes about 20 mins. I have the ES mount rightnow and I'm getting tired of it. I also have a Prothane mount that I've yet to install, will it have the same results as the ES mount?
Re: bad viberation after replacing tranny mount!
I didn't get a chance to check for the part# last night. I ordered it from Jason Cromer (Sam Taylor), I just called and told him I wanted a LS1 mount for my 1995 Trans Am (I don't think it was the first one that he had sold for a LT1 car. I did not have to modify a thing to install it. In fact, I put it on the tranny while we had it out putting in my shift kit.
Re: bad viberation after replacing tranny mount!
Has anyone out there the typical "working angles" for thier 2nd gen u-joints? A lot of these threads mention driveshaft alignment, there's a killer site on this at www.vibrationsoftware.com but It doesn't say what a camaro should be.
I kind of wonder because my rear joint angle is 1.5 degrees up to the front, and my front joint is ALSO 1.5 degrees up to the front. I know that figures in to the spacer problem for obvious reasons besides just rubber vs. poly issue. I'm going to check trhe left-right thing, didn't think of that.
It seems that the alum DS would be smoother because a misalignment or bad bushing or mount has that much LESS weight to throw around. Just masks an existing problem and will eventually get worse if a sympton of wear, just will take longer?
Almost EVERYONE of these threads mentions something that could have upset the alignment having been the start of the vibration trouble. Engine change, tranny change, rear end work, new mounts, trannys, etc. I'm trying to see a pattern here, and maybe I just been smoking some good s*&t here, but it's getting pretty clear.
