Auto tranny fluid leak...

I have a definate tranny leak coming from the tranny. I believe it is coming from the rear of the tranny. What seals are on the tranny that could be leaking? Is there anything else to check as to where/why the tranny fluid is coming from?

If it's coming from the rear of the tranny, then it is the driveshat to tailhousing seal, that's the seal where the driveshat slips into the transmission. You can easily pop the out and put in a new one. If it's not that it might be the pan gasket leaking and the wind is blowing the oil to the back.... but my guess would be the tailshaft to driveshaft seal.

What would that seal be called? I just got off the phone with O'Reilleys and they show two differents parts that might apply. The first is called "rear seal" for 3.29
or they have the "rear exit seal" for 7.99

I could look in my Chilton's later tonight, but I was planning on stopping by the auto parts store on my way home. Thanks guys.

Rear seal, it's the most common one due to overfilling and driveshaft vibration, from worn U-joints or out of balance.
It's a doughnut looking seal.
