auto to 6-speed pedal conversion time question
Re: auto to 6-speed pedal conversion time question
Are you going to drill the hole for the master cylinder and install it as well, or are you swapping just the pedals for now??
I'm in the midst of converting my car to an M6, and the other day I pulled out the stock (auto) pedals ... took me maybe ~20 minutes TOPS of laying on my back, disconnecting the brake switches and throttle cable, unbolting the pedals, and pulling them out around the steering column and through the mess of wires up there
. Many guys say to pull the steering column, but I worked around it, and don't plan on pulling it to put in the 6-speed pedals either.
Don't know what total swap time would be ... probably less than an hour as long as you're not screwing around?
I wasn't really rushing, and like I said, ~20 minutes had the pedals out. Re-install may take slightly longer, but who knows?

I plan to just replace the pedals for now. Hmm, I dont know if you have t "drill" or not. Looking up in there, it looks like there is a stamped plate you just punch out (sounds simpler saying than doing I am sure).
I am doing pedals for now, but, if it took 20 minutes to get out, I would say 20-40 tops to get it back in, its just reverse proceedure. Then again, probably would be easier to just punch out the hole while everything is out.
Well, you dont have the pedals put back in but I appreciate the feedback as to how they came out.

I dont like that answer but I hear you loud and clear brotha. What did you use, if anything, for a template?
Re: auto to 6-speed pedal conversion time question
Nothing.....it's pretty obvious where to drill once you get in there. I asked around for a template too....but no one ever answered. There's a black piece of plastic on the inside that has an indent in it left of the brake pedal. It's rounded on the top right I believe....and thats where you drill. I'm sure someone should be able to snap a pic of something. I'll be out around my 94 thats currently on jack stands and try to snap a pic or two for ya.

Here's a pic of the installed clutch/master cylinder beside the brake pedal:

I got that pic off of this install guide:
