Anyone use ring gear spacers?

I did a search on this and came up kind of short. The only ones that I knowof are the Moser ring gear spacers for 50 bucks. Do these work without breaking? Are there any other brands out there or should I stick with Moser? 2.73's really suck hard, and I am tired of this. Thanks.

ive used one against gear manufactures recomendation without a problem, but it was on a 305 carbed 3rd gen with like 250 horses. With a spacer, you are putting two shear points on the ring gear bolt instead of one, if its just going in an otherwise stock car, itll probably be okay, but if not, just buy a 3 series carrier off ebay

What are you trying to do, go to a lower ratio? There are 3 series gears that are made to fit 2 series carriers like yours. No need for a spacer then.

I thought so, my car will stay pretty stock, except for a few bolt ons. I have CAI and exhaust with the free mods right now. Will be doing pullies, air foil and LT headers. Maybe another 40-45 hp if I'm lucky. I'm going for it. Unless someone has some major
horror stories.

The 2 series isn't weaker. The only difference between a 2 and a 3 is the thickness of the flange that the ring gear bolts to.

exactly, the 2 series isnt weaker, but it needs a spacer for a 3 series gear to work on it, this spacer makes it easier for the bolts to shear...

its you call man, i dont know if i would do it or not, but if you do, spend the money on some good grade 8 bolts

He didn't mention he was going to be using gears for a 3 series carrier. What I'm saying is you can buy, say 3.73's for a 2 series with out the need for a spacer.

Right now I am just on a budget since this car isn't very cheap to operate. I can get gears from a series three carrier from ebay for 50 bucks shipped. The spacers are another fifty buck as well. One hundred bucks versus the 225 from thunder racing. If it was comparable then I would go for it. I seldon jerk my car around, if at all and it isn't modded a lot either. Was def. going with the stage eight bolts though.
