Anyone running a 25-2600 stall with this size cam?

I've got a GTP6 with 236/242 duration, .597/.583 lift and 114LSA.

Currently with the stock 1600 stall it surges at cruise below 1500rpms, 2k rpms is fine.
This is a street driven car, very limited track, so I'm wanting the very best street manners.
Would a 25-2600 stall convertor help smooth out the idle and below 1800 rpm cruise some with this cam or do I need bigger?

I would go bigger...Why go with a cam that size and not take advantage of it? I would talk to a reputable converter company about your combo and they'll recommend the appropriate stall speed to fit both you and the car. I run a Vig 3600 and have for 10 years..It could easily be my daily driver as its street manners a fantastic...and my cam is only in the 220/230 range...

Re: Anyone running a 25-2600 stall with this size cam?

My hesitation to go much bigger is the drivability. I have a 3k stall in my GN and it is very noticable in it to get the momentum of the car going from a stand still, its beautiful for brake torquing to spool up the turbo. I realize the TA will have twice the amount of torque than the GN when not under boost so I'm sure that will have an effect on how it feels.
I just don't want that same feeling taking off in the TA as this is my wife's car and if it feels like that I'll end up having to buy her another car or pull the cam out and put something smaller in it....long story how I end up with this cam, probably would not have went that big but...
My tranny builder will let try the 2600 out if I don't like it he will ship me a higher stall one and let me send the 2600 back free of charge, just anything higher than 2600 stall is a billet convertor he builds and then they are $500 more, so thats a big reason to try the 2600.
So its not like I'm stuck with it if it doesn't work, just wondering if there's others that already tried this.

Wow! With the 114 LSA it really tightens up the low end given the huge duration, I wouldn't have thought a stall over 3k would be needed as it has the stocker in it now and it does surge when braking but does not surge it the rpms are over 1800.

I have a 2800 yank, I drive it daily, street manners are awsome. Go with a bigger stall! I dont even notice it any more. Its just noticable when you push the pedal down quickly... 8)

I take it thats in a good way when its noticable?
Alright, I guess I'm convinced to spend the extra $500 and go higher than 2600. I had originally thought 2800 but the $500 more pricetag got me wondering.

yes, a very very good way noticable I would talk to an expert, you should be able to have the best of both worlds even with a cam.

Thanks. The shop I have dealt with pretty much specializes in 2004rs. I have another very reputable guy in the turbo Buick world that also deals with 4l60e's that I'm going to call tomorrow.

wait its going to cost you an EXTRA $500 for a higher stall? Why? Shouldnt cost any more...thats bull. Go with a company that is known for making legit converters if you want to do it right. Fuddle's are only about 450 and I'd go with AT LEAST a 3400.

Its because the builder I have dealt with in the past, and he is very reputable in the 2004r world, builds only billet convertors if the stall is 2800 or more because usually those are higher hp applications, and they very rarely have a failure with them, and they stand behind them if they do. That said, my app is only about 350-375rwhp, which isn't all that much for a billet convertor. That said, I'm caling my other contact to discuss with him.
