anyone out there using a centerforce cluctch on a fbody?

i have a 1995 formula lt1 with a 6 speed. i am in process of building up a motor that should put down 400 to 450 rwhp.I need a new clutch.I was wondering if anyone out there uses a centerforce clutch. Ive heard things about them bein good if ya set them up correctly to being absolute junk..The car is going to be driven semi regularly in the summer. I want a stock clutch feel but with a little more gripping power.Any help is appreciated thanks

Steve,

I am running a Center Force duel friction clutch and I really dont care for it. It works fine for daily driving, but when you get into it and hammer is hard, it a pain to get into gear, and it dissengauges WAY too close to the floor, when its hot there is no hope of gettin it in revurse. But other than that its on, the pedle pressure is very easy and smooth, but thats the only good thing I have to say about it.

Don't do Centerforce! I roasted mine after about 3 months.... Just past Centerforce's warranty period! You can get better grip for less money. I will say, though, that if you're putting down 400+ rwhp, don't skimp, get the McLeod street twin. I skimped on mine with SLP and Clutchnet stuff (which is great for street racing and daily driving), and it would not even hold for a second at the strip on slicks. Car sat still, RPMs pegged the rev limiter.

If you get the McLeod setup, a flywheel is included, which makes it an even better deal. You have your choice of lightweight steel or aluminum. But to answer your question, you can reuse your stock flywheel on all applications except the McLeod street twin. I just had to change mine because I resurfaced it the maximum times/amount of material allowed. As for vendors, check on here. You can find awesome deals in the used parts section or GPs sometimes in the Group Purchase section.

The main thing to realize is that drivetrain is very much a give and take relationship. For a strong gripping clutch, there will be some reduction in drivability. The key is to find the one that minimizes that reduction while giving maximum grip, and from all I've heard/seen, the McLeod is it.

If you don't plan to track it much, you can get whatever makes you happy, just don't be disappointed when you get some traction at the track and you roast the clutch like I was.
