Anyone know anything about aa 8.5"/10 bolt?
Anyone know anything about aa 8.5"/10 bolt?
A friend of mine recieved a 8.5" 10 bolt out of a 88 camaro or sumthing. I heard this is a way beefy ten bolt, or at least way beefier than the 7.5 10 bolt. If anyone knows any info about 8.5 inch 10 bolts please let me hear it. Will it work on a 94 camaro? I can get this rear end for about 150$ in great shape. Would this be an awesome deal? thnx for the help.
Re: Anyone know anything about aa 8.5"/10 bolt?
The 8.5" ten bolt is a very durable rear. Have many friends running them in their older cars, some going as fast a 10s on ET streets with them. I wasn't aware that 3rd gens had 8.5 rears unless you buddy had it made for it...Anyway, if it was in a 3rd gen its slightly narrower than a 4th gen rear. A fabricator could weld up all mounting points, TA mount, etc. It would be plenty strong for most applications. A benefit of the narrower rear would be a wider selection of rear wheels which would tuck under the quarterpanels nicely...

SLP did offer some 10 bolt Dana 44's for the 3rd gens and they have the 8.5 inch ring gear. as for using it in a 4th gen well you'll hve to drop the abs unless your car has 4 channel.
