Any info on online about manual trannies(specifically 5-speeds)

I can't shift into second if I slam it, it will go. Its not like my synchros are bad because that typically throws you out, it almost feels as if the shifter is being blocked(from the outside its not)

From some people at car meets think maybe my shifter is messed up, which I doubt because I don't see breaking a shifter. But the point was brought up that my linkage might be messed up, my dad knows a little about this he had problems with it back in the old days like the 60s and 70s, but doesn't know much info and lives on the other side of the state.

YOu guys have any info to my problem? I was thinking of pulling my shifter and reinstalling it. I have heard things about little spacers or something(I am good with cars but internal tranny stuff, I have limited knowledge), that can be adjusted and I have heard of people having problems with them before.

any info beforehand, will be nice before I yank the shifter and figure it out form there.

To start with both the Tremec(Borg Warner) T5 and T56 are internal rail shifters so there is no linkage in the sense of the old 4 speeds. There are also few adjustments. Off the top of my head I can think of three things that might cause this problem.
1) The nylon bushing on the end of the shift lever, inside the tail housing, could be worn.
2) Bad synchro's.
3) Bent 1st/2nd shift fork.
The bushing can be gotten to by removing the shifter the rest require disassembling the trans.
