A4 won't shift at WOT

For a pretty long time now I've noticed my tranny (4L60E) wont shift at WOT until I back off... Is my tranny on its way out? It's not that old, no more than 40,000 miles. The fluid is pretty black too, so I'm going to change it.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe the shift point was changed and is too close to the rev limiter. It started happening around or shortly after when I got it tuned by Brian at PCMforless, but I haven't had access to a laptop to put the original tune back in since I've been away at college until now. I think Brian knows better than that though.

What do you guys think? This killed my ET's the two times I ran it while at college.

EDIT, sorry if this isn't the right forum, but I thought it was the best choice.

if yer fluid is pretty black and burnt smelling DONT change it. You will just make the problem worse. Once the fluid is smoked like that its pretty much done. If it was just old or varnished, yeah you could change it, but burnt and black are another story. You have an issue internally and new fluid will just kill yer tranny faster because of all the detergents in it. Where are you located?

I'm located in New Jersey. And if the TPS is the problem how would I find out?

Since you have burnt fluid then it isn't the TPS, sorry they got your hopes up...

But the good news is you live within driving distance from CPT, and Frank can hook your tranny up...

BTW, I hate to tell you this if you didn't know, your tranny is going out completely pretty soon, and sooner if you flush it out like stated above...

Well I just checked it again today, this time with a white paper towel and not a rag, and it looks a lot better. It's mostly light pink with just a tad of brown in it. I would still like to get it checked out though. What is CPT? And do you guys think I should change the fluid now?

From that description the fluid seems to be in "normal" condition.
