A4 Question

On my 97 Camaro A4 there's a stamped steel bar that bolts to the rear end and pivots on the transmission tailshaft. Can I remove this bar without causing the rear end to hit the floor when I launch it?

Want to put in a gearvendors overdrive and it looks like there's no room for the bar. Do I have to do anything else if I remove this bar?

Has anyone taken out this bar?

Thanks in advance guys.
