A4 problem for a friend of mine
A4 problem for a friend of mine
Buddy of mine has a 95 Z28 and the tranny got messed up pretty bad (would be stuck in drive whether the shifter was in park nuetral, or any gear, except reverse which just clicked). Anyways, he decided to go ahead and get another tranny, and put it together. Well, now the car actually has park and neutral, but doesn't shift. It shifted once into 2nd, and it was a pretty firm shift, but other than that one time it doesn't. Fluids all good and everything, but I'm not exactly an A4 expert, and neither is he. What could the problem be? Thanks for any input in advance.
Re: A4 problem for a friend of mine
Did he inspect the shifter and linkages? Did he use any solenoids or anything from his old tranny? Did he clean up the plug that goes to the tranny? Did he make sure that the tranny lines aren't clogged? I'm just throwing ideas out there.

if you have some time and want a good tranny guy to look at it go by Bobby's Transmission Service in Kinston. He's only about 25-30 minutes down hwy 70 from you. If you want to know where he's at lemme know. He'll work with you on the problem and won't do you wrong.
Re: A4 problem for a friend of mine
I'm pretty sure he used the valvebody and everything from his old tranny. I'm pretty sure this is what happens when you try and rebuild your own tranny in your living room with no experience... he doesn't want to hear that though
Its a frankenstein transmission between his and a tranny a buddy of his has...
