A4- 350 turbo swap??? HELP!!

I'm buying another Z28 but the trans is out. I'm wanting to go th-350 but I'm wanting to know what all I'll need. I know I'll need the trans, converter, shifter. But, how will I mate the th-350 to the factory torque arm and how will the trans bolt to the crossmember, also, which dipstick will work? Any comments would be appreciated. The kits in JEGS for the th-350 swap in 82 and later f bodies, what all does it come with and is it worth the price. Thanks in advance!!

The TH350 has no provision for mounting a stock type torque arm. You will need an aftermarket TA like the Spohn, BMR, etc. You will need a vehicle speed sensor and reprogramming of your PCM (or a new chip in the case of a '93) to get the speedo to work. You will also need a tranny cooler. The transmission mount will need to be modified (requires welding). Madman Racing sells an appropriate dipstick. A new sriveahft will probably be needed as well.

If you do a search for "TH400" swap you can get a lot of info. It has been discussed here a lot and the issues are the same with a TH350. I wouldn't bother with a TH350 and would do a TH400 as long as you are wanting a strong automatic though.

I found this its misterguro http://shootmyphoto.com/moser/
The t350 is at the bottom of the page. Also he used a 4l60e to t350 adapter, never heard of that.

I have also read if you get the 9' tailshft 350 you can keep your stock drive shaft.

I was also under the impression Bm made a kit to keep you stock torque arm it was for third gens but also worked fot the 4th gens. The crossmember does need to be modified.

This is some of the research I have done, but have not found anyone with detailed parts of what works and what doesnt.

I know TA lt1 and Shon Herron have t-350 hopefully they will let us know what they did.

Re: previous post. Yeah, when I referred to the crossmember I was thinking of an M6 to TH350 swap. As far as the 9" tailshaft, these are hard to find AFAIK.

Yeah I have the longtail tranny, stock driveshaft and B&M kit for the stock torque arm. Everything worked great except I still don't have a speedometer yet but I really don't need one I will hook one up one of these days. The dipstick is a must from Madman Racing and he sold me the B&M kit too for $120 and $90 for the dipstick. I was told someone modifies a a longtail tailhousing that way the torque arm still bolts to the tranny and you can use the stock speedo stuff too. But I have yet to see one and I heard about it after I had bought all my stuff anyways. Later Clint

lokar makes the dip stick. Jegs carries the hurst install kit which wil allow you to run your factory torque arm. If you can weld, you can easily make the factory crossmember work. If not, BMR makes a crossmember that is a direct fit for this project. Tranny lines bolt right up. Factory shifter bolts right up. You will need the 9inch tail to keep the factory driveshaft. Dakota digital has a speed sensor for $25 that is a direct plug in. HJust splice into the factory speed sensor. You'll have to get the values changed in your computer to get it to read properly. Any more questions just ask.

The part # is sen01-1. All you'll have to do to hook it up is cut the factory speed sensor plug off that goes in the tail shaft. Install the new sensor in the th350 shaft and wire it to the factory wiring. There is just 2 wires. There is no polarity which means you can't hook them up wrong.

!. A TH400 eats up more HP and 2. Unless your goals are sub 9sec. then you don't need anything stronger than a built TH350.
Thanks for the part#. Later Clint
