i recently had my break pads changed and an oil change by my drunken father on my 97 camaro. it's an automatic and a 6 cylinder. when he brought the car back to me he parked it and would not go into reverse since then. you can move it down into reverse but it stays like it's in park. so we tried to push the car back out of neutral, well neutral acts like drive. this happened about two months ago when the car was taken off hard and might of not been in gear but after playing with it for a half an hour it went into reverse fine and has been fine since then until now. the car will turn off in drive, nuetral, and when we turned it off in drive it finally rolled back to where i could drive it home.

i had someone look at it and they said nothing physical outside of the transmission looks to be off like the linkage or anything like that. the fluid isn't low.

does it sound like it's the transmission? or could it be something else? any help would be very much appreciated! i just want my car reversing again haha.
