94 z28 automatic trany problems
Hi, just wanted to ask about the automatic. After driving some time i lost all the gears. How long does 4l60 trany ussualy last and how much power (rwhp) can it take. thanks.
Re: 94 z28 automatic trany problems
It really depends on how it's built. A bad (cheap) rebuild can last as little as a few miles. A good, quality rebuild will last years. The problem is, it's hard to find someone who specializes in 700/4L60E's. Most "general transmission shops" don't know what it takes to build a 4L60E for a performance application.
As for "How much power will one take"? Again, it depends on how it's built.

To answer the how much power question, my car on a Mustang dyno puts down ~300 RWHP and 338 RWTQ, and that seemed to fry my stock tranny in the mileage listed above. those dyno pulls were after getting the tranny, converter, and the EWP.. So considering all the other mods have been there for years I say it was a close estimate...

well, it is just an other transmission shop. And there is no way that i can find a better one in Latvia. And they give a one year warranty. And thanks for the info. Hopefully they will fix it good.
