I have a 94 camaro z28 that has the t56 I can crank it up and put it any any gear without clutch and it won’t grind but makes a clunking noise until I press clutch in so I pulled the t56 and clutch and pressure plate looks great what could it be

 

What happens if you do it the right way, and put it into gear using the clutch, as it's intended to be done?
