94 4l60e in a 97 not compatible??

I post an issue getting a code of p1860 after the swap.

Well after a few more hours of searching I think I found what my problem is.
Apparently only 95+ 4l60e have the TCC PWM Solenoid. Just found out that the tranny I put in was from a 94. Explains alot, guess I need to start looking for another trans or eplore the possiblities of changing over to a th350/400 for future us.

Only thing is now I am wondering seeing how the trans does not have one is it going ot hurt it at all if I drive the car..lol. Can anyone confirm this or am I just trippin?

I think you will be just fine with what you have. This trany has the non pwm pump so there is no solenoid to control. I just picked up one for my 96 TA for a spare.
Is there a reason you think it may not work? You may get an engine code but I think a programer can turn it off or put a reristor in the wire to fool the computer.
Please let me know how you make out, Rick Abare

not too sure on any findings, seems every where I look it gets quiet as a mouse...lol. I just hope I can figure it out or get some advice, last thing I want to do is burn up another tranny.

Now that I have concluded its a 94 non-PWM tranny is it possible to still use it? I thought there were other issues besides just throwing a code. I will say you know have me curious if a program such as Ion could program it out of the ECU.

The '94 trans should still operate OK, but you'll need to trick your computer to get rid of the SES light. I hope you used a '94 style torque converter, though. The '97-up uses a different converter clutch lining, that will cook if you try installing one in an earlier unit.

As for the 350/400 option? A 350 isn't ANY stronger than a properly built 60E. A 400 swap isn't neccessary unless you plan on running in the 9's.
