8.8"

Has anybody actually tried the 8.8" in an f body? This is the route I would like to go, but i have never talked to anybody that has done it. i want to know what kind of 60' times it is seeing in a full weight car. If I do not find somebody with one, I am going to go with a 9".

Two of my racing buddies have them in their cars. One is an A4 and the other is a M6. Both are cammed and juiced and run 10s. They got them at the end of the season so they don't have alot of track time on them. I think 1.5 is the lowest 60' times so far. Just from looking at one before it was installed I was very impressed with the workmanship. I plan on getting one in the spring.

You definately get what you pay for. I was gonna get one but I figured if I was going to spend that kinda money might as well go for the 12bolt or 9".

don't know what that means, an 8.8 should be stronger than a 12 bolt just to begin with. not to mention the high prices of the strange and mosers that have had plenty of problems.

the 12 bolts have had problems with posi's breaking. not many issues with the 9" rears. i have had a moser 9" for over 2 years, only problem was a leaking axle seal that was noticed fixed the day the rear went in the car.

ouch just looked at the price,i paid less for my moser 9" with 33 spline axles, spool and 3.70 gears, billet pinion support,1350 yoke.

racin, the probs with the mosers are not in the 9", it is the 12 bolts. I have not heard of but a couple 9" that had a problem, and they were minimal. I would rather have a 9", but finding a 9" with the same options as the 8.8 for the same price is difficult. the 8.8 with:
    is 2045

the Moser 9" from LS1 speed starts at 2169.99 and does not say what axles or anything it has.

Dude the 12 bolt IS an 8.8"

As said above, I too paid less for my rear end with spool and 35 spline axles than that 8.8" your looking at. Honestly just spend a couple hundred more and get the better one. Besides, have you acutally seen pictures of the 8.8" that dude builds? The torque arm mount looks ghetto man I dunno bout you but I don't want something like THIS under my car

What's so ghetto about it? The weld quality and materials on my moser 9" don't look any better ...

i thought the same...a little paint and that thing will look great!

You got your rear for cheaper, but you have a spool. I have not found a 9" for cheaper than the 8.8 with a limited slip in it. If you know of a cheap place to get a complete limited slip 9" for the price of the 8.8 conversion or cheaper with the same or better oprions please speak up.

yes a 12 bolt is an 8.8, 8.875" to be exact., but I do not want a 12 bolt because of the number of problems i have seen with them. if i were to buy a 12 bolt, it would be because i got a killer deal.

The reason I'm going with the 8.8 is because it's the lightest of the three. Their power handling capacity has been well proven so why would I want to carry extra weight around? I want to lose as much weight as possible.....

Really Damn that would kinda make me mad then

Don't get me wrong I think it's a great idea and yea I guess if your not going to go with a spool its prolly a pretty good deal but I just wish it were a couple hundred dollars cheaper than what it is. I doubt it's costing him NEAR that much to make

I have a 8.8 from craig at www.extremechassis.com I'm very happy with it. I asked him about the torque arm mount and he said one guy broke the mount on the tranny and his "ghetto" arm survived. I was surprised at how well the stock TA bolted up to the rear. If i had it to do over again i would get a nine inch just because i have so many center sections laying around from my ford projects
