of hand i don t know anyone with one, the best thing to do is wait and check e bay and call around at salavage yards, i ve seen them go from a few hundred up to about $500 at salave yards, but they are worth it. stock they come with 30 spline axles,, if by chance you need anything i have the stock axles out of my 8.5, open differential and 2 sets of gears.

You were just talking about putting $1000 into your 7.5, maybe it's worth it to you to get what you want. Also comes with disk brakes which is good. I'm sure you can find one cheaper, but this is something to consider.

yea but i think it was also an open rearend. i found a 53 inch ford 9 inch that has the spring perches set up for an S10. its at $200 right now i think but it has 4:56 gear in it. and i looks like it could use a rebuild.

well heres something to think about as well do you plan on doing disk brakes in the new future ? i m swapping my stock drums now to disc brakes in the rear, i m "stealing parts from a blazer mostly" the kits out there for the s-10 suck i ve heard nothing but bad things about them. if you plan on getting everything new your looking at around $5-600 just to swap on disc brakes, you can go to a junk yard but for my brakes i would rather pay the extra $$ for new stuff. 1k is a bit high even for e bay if i find anything i will let you know. my advice is if you don t need it asap then wait a bit and keep you eye out. the 9 inch you found is another option as well.

no i dont really need it right now but im just shopping around. i found a 8.5 GN rearend thats 53 inches and i could use wheel spacers to fill in the rest. then when i buy my other wheels i could change the back spacing. i dont really need disk brakes im just looking for drum brakes. thanks for the help man.

I'm pretty sure the LT1 Impalas had 8.5" rears. That may be another avenue for you to explore.
