700r4 help

I have a 93Z28, and am rebuilding the engine

its a 383 with the LE3 topend.
All bolt-ons aswell, so should be over 400RWHP easily.....I hope

My transmission is just the stock 700r4 and I bought a
3000RPM stall, a fuddle.......I know, cheap one.

Before the rebuild the tranny was working fine, fluid looked clean.
I did buy a B&M tranny cooler.

What else should I do? how quickly will this tranny explode?
I thought 700r4's were alittle stronger then the 4l60E's, but dont really know.

Please help!

Your transmission may not "explode", but it does have several weak areas that will take more abuse with a stouter engine combination. You'll probably see the input sprag or the 3-4 clutches start to show "issues" shortly. Fortunately, there are some of us who know how to build these transmissions to hold huge amounts of power, and last.

As for the "700 being stronger than a 4L60E"...Not really. We have 4L60E's in the mid 9's.

Thanks,
Frank

I have a 93 w/ a 383 LE3/LE4 and I am using a CPT transmission. He builds them right the first time.

Frank completely disassembled the stock transmission when I dropped it off...and explained way too much for an early Saturday morning.
