hey guys, I've searched around and I can find alot of info on auto to 6 speed swaps, or swaps to th400's. But I've got a friend with a 2002 SS with an auto and he's getting sick of shifting. He would like to swap to a stock auto transmission.

What are the big thorns in this process. I'm guessing doing the lockout on the steering column and mounting the shifter are going to be a pain, but are they even possible? I'm not very farmiliar with the placement of this stuff on the camaros. The next pain would be the rewiring of the tranny controls. Any kind of advice or insite would be helpful, thanks.

auto interior plate(PRND321) with shift boot
Tranny cooler(or radiator) with lines

really if you are going from the 6spd to the Auto, you would basically just go the complete reverse as doing the swap the other way. I think the only places you may actually have any headaches would by installing the shift in the center console, since you will have a hole there that you will have to weld over in order to securely install the auto shifter IIRC. I personally am going the other way when ever I find a smashed Camaro or firebird sittin in the salvage yard... Always one or two ever year.. and I can buy the whole car for like $1000 reguardless of drivetrain.. So I have been waiting for the LS1/t56 to end up in there.
