4L60E temp question ???

I have an Autometer trans temp gauge from 100-250 Deg. I put
the sender for it in the pressure test port . My question is the
gauge shows the trans running at 250 Deg after a short period
of driving I felt the trans pan and it was only warm to
the touch . Whats going on here ? Thanks

Thats not and acyrate place to take the temp the fluild there is at its hottest point and the fluild is staionary there it comes to a dead end and sits, You are actually coming closer to measuring the temperature of the case which is also heated by the engine and exhaust than the actual trans temp , sender would be better in the PAN
