Bad syncro?

Hi guys. This problem just happened out of nowhere, no warning signs. I pull out of the driveway yesterday morning, I put it in reverse without problem then shift into first without problem. When I tryed to go to second it made a grinding sound but went in. Since then it does it everytime I go into second. Even if im sitting at a red light I can put the shifter into second without pressing the clutch. It wont go in but it grinds as if it wants to go in. Once im rolling I can get it in second but that grind is annoying. Sounds like the tranny is gonna have to come out but opinions on the problem would be appreciated.

If it's isolated to second gear then I agree with your diagnosis that it's a bad syncro.

I can get an old T56 from a 95 Viper. Would this fit or would I get the same problem as trying to fit one from a 98 up F-body?

Do a search on Viper trannys, I believe the input shaft is a different diameter.
