will the 4l60 found in '93 f-bodies fit into cars other then 4th gen f-bodies, even if the car isnt an LT1? say a 3rd gen or a G-body with a V8 or anything else for that matter?

thanks guys

I don't see why not, though it isn't something I have ever tried or analyzed. FWIW, the 4L60 has identical dimensions as the 700-R4.

Yeah, I think it's just the bellhousing, may be more though. So an LT1 4L60 will mate to any other SBC but not an LS1 unit.

that and the fact that they are not electronic are the only things i know about them!
the reason i ask is if i acquire one i want to be able to offer it for sale to more people then just LT1 owners
anyone know for sure if the bellhousing mates to anything other then an LT1?

thanks

Unless you consider the LS1, it should bolt up any SBC ever made. AFAIK, the bell housing bolt pattern has always been the same? Maybe there are some oddballs out there though.

I was referring to the issue of it fitting on a given platform when I mentioned never having having actually test fitted one.

gotcha... THANKS Rich
i just wasnt sure if the LT1 had a different bolt pattern or not but now i know! and i would assume it is safe to say, being dimensionally the same as a 700r that it would probably work in cars originally equipped with that trans

thanks again
